HUME, Ernest - Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, June 11, 2017, Ernest Hume of London age 83. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Sheila, daughters Carol (Claude) of Montreal, Susan (Anthony) of Toronto and grandchildren Alisa (J.C.), Sarah and Ian and Katherine, Alexander and William. Dear brother of Janice Lunn (Bob) and Jean Mushens. Born in Scotland, Ernest Hume has worked in various professions and was a prolific writer and independent scholar. He wrote over 20 books, including 4 novels, several non-fiction books on topics including music, philosophy, religion, and quantum mechanics. An artist as well as a self-taught skilled pianist, he invented a simplified system of music notation. He also composed several musicals and over 50 songs and created, performed and published CDs of symphonies and orchestral music. A complex and private man, his greatest love was his wife Sheila who inspired many of his works. The funeral service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James at Richmond, on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 am, with visitation preceding from 9:30 -10:30 am. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
