THOMSON, Robert Norman - It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Robert Thomson. Robert died of natural causes, in his 57th year, at his residence in Toronto on November 23, 2017. Dearly loved son of John (2000) and Betty Thomson, beloved brother of David, Diane Lawrence (Richard), Paul (Laurence) and Stephen (Fran Plumb). Robert was a gentle, kind and caring man with a heart for the hurting, a passion for justice and a deep, enduring Christian faith. He was respected by his colleagues for his authenticity, his professionalism and for his humility. His loss is deeply felt. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at St. Michaels Church, 511 Cheapside St., London on Friday, December 8th at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Peters Cemetery to follow. Robert was indeed a gentle, kind and caring man. Robert was a special colleague. He brought a sincere dedication to work to the office every day and was a quiet leader. He was willing to take any project, listened to others and provided wisdom and guidance when needed. Robert will certainly be missed. My condolences to his mother and siblings - whom we also heard about from time to time as we shared stories of our lives.

Robert, my friend and cousin, was someone I will always remember as a man of wit, humour, intelligence and sincerity. I will miss our conversations about spiritual journeys, political realities and the importance of being true to who you are. Whether through childhood memories of playing cards and Mousetrap in the Thomson London home, or through more recent times spent catching up over occasional Pub night dinners in downtown Toronto, Robert always left me with the impression of witnessing one of the kindest people Ive had the privilege of knowing. Heartfelt concern goes out to Aunt Betty, David, Paul, Diane and Steven over the sudden loss of a son and brother, and to all the rest of us in this world that has just given to heaven one of its gentle souls.
