Gwladys Koschinsky

Death Notice

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Gwladys Koschinsky (née Richards) announces her passing on April 15, 2018, in London Ontario, aged 90. Gwladys was a poet, artist, musician, child care worker, homemaker, interior decorator, and farm wife and had a strong commitment to the value of education. She grew up on the Richards family farm near Bangor, Saskatchewan. As a young adult she moved to Winnipeg where she met her future husband Henry Otto Koschinsky. Following their marriage in 1948 she moved to the Koschinsky homestead in Jansen, Saskatchewan. She has resided in Winnipeg since 1958 and remained fiercely proud of her Welsh heritage throughout her life. She leaves behind her beloved son Maurice Henry Koschinsky (Pamela) of Brandon, Manitoba and daughter Marlys Laverne Koschinsky (Michael Boffa) of London, Ontario. Much-loved “Nain” of Brynna Koschinsky-Boffa. Sister of Robert, Megan, Enid, and David. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Margaret (Pugh), husband Henry, sisters Margaret, Nest, Ida, and Winnie and brothers Morris, John, Bill and James. Gregarious and armed with an outgoing personality, Gwladys will be fondly remembered by her many friends in Winnipeg. Cremation has occurred, and a celebration of Gwaldys’s life will be held in Winnipeg this summer. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses, PSWs, and doctors in the Neurology and Palliative Care units of University Hospital. A very special note of thanks goes to Donna of Spiritual Care Services who was a source of great comfort for Gwladys in her last days. If desired, donations may be made in Gwladys’s name to the Clinical Neurological Sciences Program or the Palliative Care Program through the London Health Sciences Foundation.
