BIEMAN, Graeme R. - Died peacefully January 8, 2019 in his 99th year. Deeply loved husband of 65 years of the late Elizabeth Bieman. Cherished father of Cory and Simon Davies, and of Kristin and Al Vilcius. Adored grandfather of Evan and Yufei Davies, Kenneth Davies and his partner Blaire Foster, Erik and Sheri Vilcius, and Joey Vilcius and her partner Christopher Kleberg. Great-grandfather of Reverie and Isabel. Survived by his sister Marjorie Scorgie of Toronto. Also much loved by his nieces and nephews. Graeme served overseas in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve and the Royal Canadian Naval Air Division from 1942 to 1945. On returning to London, Graeme completed his degree in business at Western. He was involved in the meatpacking industry for many years as a senior executive at Coleman Packing Company and served as president of the Meatpackers Council of Canada 1965-66.
In addition to his wit and storytelling, Graeme will be remembered fondly for his adventurous spirit, integrity, courage; and his dedication to family, social justice, and community. Graeme assumed leadership roles in numerous organisations and charities. Most recently, he was involved with refugee settlement and a meal program for Londoners in need. Graeme and Elizabeth shared a love of art, music and golf; they travelled extensively. Service at Church of St. John the Evangelist, 280 St. James St., London on Saturday, January 12th, 11:00 am. A lunch reception in the church hall to follow. Interment at a future date in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Donations to Plan Canada, Anglican Primates World Relief and Development Fund through St. John’s, or a charity of your choice would be gratefully accepted.
