THOMSON, Betty (Ruby Elizabeth) Peacefully, at Mount Hope Long Term Care on Monday, May 13, 2019 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late John Willis Edward Thomson (2000). Loving mother to David, Diane Lawrence (Richard) of London, Paul (Laurence) of Strasbourg, France, Stephen (Fran Plumb) of London, and the late Robert (2017) of Toronto. Loving and caring grandmother to Philip Thomson, Matthew Lawrence, Edward, Hugh and Hilda Thomson. Predeceased by her parents Lottie and Norman Tait of Parry Sound, her sister Norma Weller of Woodstock, and brothers Bill Tait, Jack Tait and Ivan Francis Tait of Parry Sound.
Betty had a zest for life - enjoying and sharing the gifts which each day offered. She had an enduring commitment to her husband, her family, her church and her community. Betty was active in various groups at Metropolitan United Church, IODE and St. George’s Home and School Association. She taught officially for several years prior to marriage and by example throughout her life thereafter - enriching the lives of family and friends.
Betty valued and nurtured long-term relationships. She was a hospitable and loving woman, with a genuine appreciation for others. Her warm heart never faltered.
Betty’s family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Mount Hope staff on St. Mary’s first floor and Marian Villa fourth floor, as well as to the many supporting team members. Their professionalism, compassion, commitment and kindness are deep-rooted and authentic. Mom was surrounded by a second, very loving family when she moved to Mount Hope. We are very grateful.
