SERBEN, Alexia - Peacefully during prayer at Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, age 24. Beloved wife of Dan (Jovan) Serben. Loving mother to her son Athanasios and daughter Hristiana. Cherished daughter of John and Christina Panageas. Dear sister of Elias Panageas. Dear family and friends in Christ. My beautiful wife, mother of our two dear children and a humble servant of Christ.
Alexia wanted everything and everyone to know that every cross in life, her cross in life, was a beautiful and happy story. She saw Christ in every situation of life and asks the same of us. Every pain, sorrow and tough situation were to her a moment to connect and understand all the suffering people. The choice according to Alexia was simple, light or darkness. What do we want our every second to be about? She chose light, in every pain, every struggle and every blessed moment of life. She would want no one to choose a dark path of despair after her departure, rather we rejoice in Christ, the author and giver of life eternal. She always reminded me to prepare our hearts according to the words of St. Nikolai Velimirovich. “Grant me the heart of Jesus, around which darkness waited in vain to enter, but never could.” Alexia chose light, and darkness waited in vain. With prayers, love and a good story of life. Jovan, John, Christina, Elias, Athanasios, Hristiana and lastly Alexia.
The funeral will be conducted at Holy Transfiguration Antiochian Orthodox Church, 465 Horton Street East on Friday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
