Susan Blocker

Death Notice

Blocker, Susan Margaret Smith. Born in Timmins, May 4, 1952. Died peacefully at home, October 18, 2019. Beloved wife of Jack Blocker. Mother and confidante of David Blocker. She will be missed by family and friends.

Susan was an innovative teacher with the Lambton County and Thames Valley District School Boards (South, Laurier, Beal, and Woodstock CI), learning coordinator, and vice-principal (Clarke Road). A voracious reader, she loved the lively discussions of her book clubs. An avid theatergoer, Susan enjoyed productions nearby and wherever she travelled. She took a leadership role in the outreach committee of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. From her childhood, the rocks, trees, lakes, and rivers of northern Ontario filled her with a love of nature, which she expressed as a Girl Guide leader and in Algonquin Park canoe trips, fell-walking in the English Lake District, travel through Canada and Europe, work with the conservation action committee of Nature London, and through her design of a cottage on the Bruce Peninsula.
