Death Notice

HETTINGA, Darien - On January 6, 2020, Darien Louise Hettinga of Etobicoke died suddenly while in Mexico to celebrate her 29th birthday. She was born in Woodstock on January 2, 1991.

She will be lovingly remembered by: mother Josie Witteveen and her husband Ron Gulka; father Edward Hettinga; brother Rayne Hettinga and his wife Kylie Poole; Oma and Opa, Janny and Gerry Witteveen; Beppe and Pake, Rennie and Art Hettinga. Also sadly missed by her aunts, uncles and many cousins. We will always remember her smile that would light up a room.

Darien attended Woodstock Collegiate Institute where she excelled in social activities. She also attended George Brown College for fashion management. She found great joy in using her fashion savvy to help brides ‘say yes to the dress’ as a bridal consultant at Jealous Bridesmaids on Bloor St. West.

Visitation at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 1246 Oxford St. West, on Monday, January 13 at 2 pm.
