Dr. Robert Mackenzie
MACKENZIE, Dr. Robert Arthur (M.D. M.R.C.P.(U.K.), F.R.C.P.(C) -
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in his 84th year. Adoring husband to Roswitha. Loving father to Katherine (Manfred Kuschel), Anita (Dwight Caldwell), Helene (Allan Parker), Connie (Donald Youngblut), Tara (Chris Power). Loving Opi to Benjamin, Erich, Anna, Thomas, Isabelle, Gretta and Amalia.
He was a dedicated and caring physician in Internal Medicine and one of the first Nuclear Medicine physicians in the region. He had a lifelong love of medicine, music, and nature which he passed on to those around him.
In lieu of flowers a donation to Nature Conservancy of Canada or One Tree Planted would be a great tribute to him. A celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date.
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, the guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
From Epitaph on my own Friend, Robert Burns
“If there ever comes a day where we can’t be together,
keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

Dear Mrs. Mackenzie,
It is with sadness that I read about the passing of Dr. Mackenzie. Bob was an esteemed and valued colleague, a true gentleman who was always kind and caring. He will be remembered fondly by all his Nuclear Medicine friends. My sincere condolences to you and to the rest of the family.

Dear Roswitha -- my friendship with Bob, as you know, goes back to the year when he arrived in London as a new trainee in Internal Medicine. He was never without that glorious smile and the gentle way he dealt with both his peers and his patients. His death is a great loss to so many people.

I would like to express my condolences to the entire family. I was very fortunate to work with Dr. Mackenzie or Dr. Bob as we knew him. I will always remember him as a very kind, caring and approachable man who was great a wealth of knowledge to our nuclear medicine department.

Sincere condolences on the passing of a very kind, caring, loving and gentle man. I was only fortunate enough to have met Dr. Mackenzie in the last three years but he was very sweet, welcoming and a true pleasure to interact with. I wish you peace in the memories and good times shared with family, friends and colleagues.

Please accept our sincere condolences.
Dr. Mckenzie and yourself were always very kind to me and my family and were welcoming us when we arrived to London as new immigrants in 2005. You both helped us to feel at home and accepted.
I have learnt a lot from both you and Dr. Mackenzie and he will be remembered in our hearts!

Your “Bob” was a kind and trusted colleague, He made me laugh, gave me direction, offered firm sound advice, and I thought of him as a slice of desert on those hard days at work . I will miss Bob. He was my friend. And so I send my genuine warmth.

I was very saddened to read in today’s London Free Press of Robert’s death. He was a valued colleague for many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital and a real pioneer in Nuclear Medicine for the City.
My very deepest sympathies to you and the family.

I really wish I could have been there, he will be missed, but proof of him in his grandchildren will be a comfort to us all.
