It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Art Hemstreet at 90 years, on May 6, 2020. Loving husband for 53 years to Valerie (2008), and much loved dad to Cheryl Vance (Jonathan), Greg (Kathy), Doug (Nicole), and Jeff (Sue). Awesome Grandpa to Gordon, Julia, Nicholas, Karling, Sarah, Megan, Kaitlyn, and Madeline. Special mention to Mary Lou Potter, dad's life partner for the past several years for all her love and care. Art enjoyed working at Industrial Tools & Supplies in Windsor, serving all his customers faithfully until his retirement in 2003. He taught his children the importance of giving back to the community by serving over 35 years with Scouts Canada, Windsor Aquatic Club, and committees at Glenwood United Church. Dad had a huge heart and always greeted you with a big smile and took a genuine interest in all you were doing. He loved the outdoors, and spending time with his family was his greatest passion.
Special thanks to the entire staff at McGarrell Place LTC in London who took such good care of him over the last 10 months.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. London 519-433-7253. If desired memorial donations can be made to Scouts Canada or the Alzheimer's Society.
