Maaten, Lynda - Passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Lynda June Maaten, nee MacMillan of London and formerly of Sarnia, age 68. Beloved wife of the late Richard Peter Maaten (2014). Loving mother of Jenna (Michael) Talosi of London and Ian (Melanie) Maaten of Kitchener. Devoted daughter of the late Donald and Helen MacMillan. Dear Grammie of Hazel and Levi Talosi and Jason and Coralyn Maaten. Dear sister of John (Carol) MacMillan, Lisa (Bill) Tichenoff, and the late Kenneth MacMillan. Fondly remembered by her mother-in-law Janna Maaten and her family, and by many nieces and nephews.
Lynda enjoyed a 30 year career as an elementary school teacher in Sarnia. She served as a Big Sister for many years. Most of all, she loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her grandchildren.

I met Lynda at a Mother & Baby playgroup when our oldest children were little. Our group still stays in touch with each other. Lynda was the most kindhearted, generous and loving person I had ever met. I’m so glad she was in my life. My heart goes out to you, Jenna and Ian and your families. My heart has been broken twice in a week. Great memories of her will be with us forever.

Jenna, Mike, Ian, Mel and Your Sweet Children,
My heart breaks for all of you because you all meant the world to your Mom and you brought so much pleasure to her life.
She has been in my life for 54 years and was such a great friend to me. We were more than friends; more like sisters. I am going to miss her caring ways and kindness.
We have been there for each other during good times, hard times and all of the in-between times.
I take comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and a day will not go by without me reflecting on the many memories that we shared. Rest in peace...no one could have had a better friend than your Mom was to me.
Love you lots! Gloria xo

Jenna, Ian and family...we are so sorry for your loss. When I think of Lynda, I think of her laugh - every joke was better and every day brighter when you heard it. I feel lucky to have grown up sharing memories with your family, and just to be in her orbit. I always found her to be so kind, generous and wise. She was truly an example of how to live life with grace.
