Gabriele Blanke (Gunton)
Death Notice
It is with great sadness that the family of Gabriele Blanke (Gunton), announces her passing on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the age of 65 years.
Gaby will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend, Paul Albers, her daughters, Jessika (Scott Sloan) and Carlie (Jordan Cook) Gunton, her brother Andre (Michelle Rozeluk) and niece, Alexa Blanke. Proud Oma to Asher and Benjamin. Gaby will be lovingly remembered by Shawn and Samantha Albers and the entire Albers family. She will be missed by Jean Gunton and the extended Gunton family. Great memories were made with special friends of over 35 years, Debbie, Lori and Patti.
Gaby was born in Hannover, Germany in 1955 to Ingrid Blanke and the late Joachim (John) Blanke. The family emigrated to London, Ontario in 1965 where Gaby attended school and taught at the German Language School. She was a devoted mother, who, while raising her family, worked in the dental field and owned and operated her own dental lab. She was the namesake for Gabriele’s Restaurant where her passion for food and wine began. Gaby was an avid traveller, her creativity in art and home design were her passion. She was a lover of life and had a smile that would warm the room. She loved spending summers at the cottage, hiking in the mountains of Europe and exploring new destinations abroad. Always a gracious host, Gaby enjoyed bringing family and friends together around the dinner table to share in great food and conversation.
A private family celebration will take place at a later time. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at both Victoria Hospital and University Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to The Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer at London Health Sciences Foundation.

Paul, Jessika and Carlie. We were so sorry to learn that Gaby had lost her long courageous battle. Gaby was a great friend who we enjoyed spending time with through the years. We were often recipients of her hospitality; she was always a gracious host. Our trips to London from time to time almost always meant a visit with Gaby and Paul. We will immensely miss those visits with Gaby. This is a difficult time for you all, but may all the wonderful memories of time spent with Gaby as a spouse, friend and Mom enrich your lives and soften the burden of your loss. Take care of one another. Love Rick & Sandra

We will always remember Gaby as that wonderful warm person who could light up any room with just her smile. Her creativity and attention to detail in all her projects, entertaining events and interests always amazed us. As did the the love she showed Jessika and Carlie , not just as a mother but as a best friend. So glad she met Paul and was able to travel and explore the world with him. Pictures of Gaby holding her grandsons Asher and Benny will always remain special to us.
Our sincere condolences and love from the entire Gunton family.
