Gordon Douglas McLean
McLEAN, Gordon Douglas - With sadness, the family of Gordon Douglas McLean announces his passing at University Hospital on Friday, May 28th, 2021 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis James (2010) and dear father of Jackie and Mike (Sue). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Galen, Daisy and Abby. Predeceased by sister Margaret Todd and survived by several nieces and nephews.
Gord (or Nurm as he was affectionately known) was born in St. Thomas, Ontario where he lived until moving to London to attend The University of Western Ontario. While there, he excelled athletically and was part of the renowned Mustang football teams of the late 1940s. He was the long-time business owner of Hurok Manufacturing, working into his 90s. Skiing was a life-long passion, an interest that led to his being one of the founders of Devil’s Glen in the 1960s and, as well, he was a lover of jazz, art, and metal sculpting. Last but not least, he and Phyllis had many happy times at their getaway in Port Stanley.
Due to COVID, a family funeral service will take place. Cremation with interment of ashes at Woodland Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations to Mission Services of London.
