Lou House
Death Notice
LUCIUS (LOU) DONALD HOUSE
December 1935 - December 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lou House. After several years of declining health, Lou passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17th in his 86th year with his beloved wife Judy and their children by his side.
Lou is survived by his wife Judith House (nee Elliott); children Sheilah Scrocchi (Martin), Michael House (Donna), John House (Louise Scrocchi), James House (Aileen) and Thomas House (Staci Berner); grandchildren Ellen, Sonia, Shannon, Monica, Nathan, Meredith, Meara; and great-grandchildren Nash and Wesley. Lou was preceded in death by his parents Lucius and Anne House (nee Prokaska).
Lou was born in Toronto in 1935 and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1957. Lou had a long and distinguished career in civil engineering. He was the City Engineer of St. Thomas and the Deputy City Engineer of London for most of his career.
Lou was a member of the Anglican Church and was a valued member of church and community choirs. He had a passion for music and singing. Lou was an avid swimmer and drummer in his early days. Lou and his family and friends shared many wonderful summers at their family cottage on Pigeon Lake and that was always one of his favourite places. Lou was a truly unique and entertaining soul with a sincere love of family and friends. His sense of humour and laughter will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at McGarrell Place for their compassionate care of Lou over the past two and a half years. Many thanks also to the kind and caring staff at University Hospital for their support during his last days.
A private family service will be held. Cremation has taken place.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of my most senior cousin. I have wonderful memories of the large family gatherings in years past, including very early ones when Lou’s parents were still with us.
To Judy, Sheilah, Mike, John, Tom and Jim - and their spouses, children and grandchildren - my sincere condolences. Lou had a big presence in all of our lives and I join you in missing him.
I hope your lifetimes of memories help you through this difficult time.
Lots of love
Lee

Our hearts are so saddened with the loss of Lou/Mr. House. Steve speaks of Lou often and asks of Judy and it is with deep sorrow that we have not been able to reunite these great friends in the past few years. Our thoughts are with you in this trying time. So many cherished memories of House family gatherings, vacations and Pigeon Lake bonfire extravaganzas, we hold the memories of Lou dear to us.
