ROBINSON, Donna Gail
1940 - 2022
With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Donna Robinson (nee New) on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in her 82nd year. Donna was born in Hamilton and after graduating from Teacher’s College, she taught elementary school for the Hamilton Board. But then she married her high school sweetheart, the Rev. Bob Robinson, and together they headed to western Canada. She taught for the Wainwright School District in Chauvin, Alberta and learned to curl. Moving slowly back east, she volunteered with a special education class in Regina, Saskatchewan. In Brantford, Ontario, she tutored adults and trained tutors throughout Ontario in the Laubach Literacy Program. She also supplied for the Brant County Board of Education. While in Brantford, she was proud to be a part of her church sponsoring a Vietnamese refugee family, and became honourary grandmother to a future optometrist. Moving on to London and later North Bay, she volunteered in elementary schools to the relief of many teachers.
Along with her educational pursuits came a growing family and eventually grandchildren who provided much enjoyment and opportunity for teachable moments. The family includes John, Jeff (Deb) in London, Joanne in Petawawa, and James (Kelli) in Kitchener. The beloved grandchildren are Tyler, Derek, Nick, Catharine and Sarah, each one a delight to their grandmother.
A born teacher, Donna used her teaching skills in the church to serve others, both locally and internationally. Yes, being a minister’s wife had its own peculiar challenges but these were handled best with friends like Linda, Silvia and the late Carol. Donna brightened all our lives.
Visitation on Friday, May 6 from 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 7 at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions to Sleeping Children Around the World would be appreciated.

We view with sadness the passing of our friend, Donna Robinson. Donna was bright, sunny and always able to add a good note to the conversation at our retired clergy/spousal luncheon gatherings. Her teaching skills were always in evidence and laughter was never far away! Winn and I want to extend our condolences to Dr Bob and his family at this time. We will always remember their kindnesses to our daughter-in-law, Lori Files, who stayed with the Robinsons during her own preparitory time for teaching while studying in North Bay. We deeply regret that we cannot offer our condolences in person, due to covid 19.
The everlasting God and Saviour Jesus Christ be present with Donna and her family at this sad time of separation. John 3.16 and 17.
Rev Les and Winn Files.

To Bob and the rest of the Robinson family - I have been honoured to know Donna for a good part of my life. I have not been close in the last several years because of my health issues. Donna came, with Bob, to visit me when I had an extensive stay in Parkwood hospital.
Donna was the most optimistic, positive person I think I have ever known! She had a lot of health issues in her later life but was always smiling and upbeat. I was in Regina when she and her young family were there. They were all so accepting and friendly to me!
I will surely miss knowing she was here. Rest in peace, dear Donna!
The rest of the family - especially my good friend Bob, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that!
