It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rhoda Micks (nee Oldridge), who left us peacefully on April 2, 2026 in her 90th year. Born on October 19, 1936, as the second youngest of eight siblings, Rhoda lived a long and meaningful life centred around her deep devotion to her large extended family.
Rhoda is survived by her youngest sister, Kay Oldridge, and her sons Ian Shewan (Shari Bond) and Gerry Shewan (Joanne Frolek). She was the cherished grandmother of Allie (Anthony), Natalie (James), Sarah (Marcus), Maxwell, and Petrina, and great-grandmother to little Thea and Josie. She is beloved by her step-daughter Angie Hutcheson, her many nieces and nephews, and her wide circle of friends.
Rhoda was a talented artist known for her detailed pencil drawings, vibrant paintings, and beautifully handcrafted knits. She was also highly social and always ready for a spirited game of bid euchre or cribbage.
Visitation will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street, London, Ontario from 7-9pm on Thursday, April 9.
Rhoda’s funeral will be held at Chalmers Presbyterian Church, 342 Pond Mills Road, London, Ontario at 11am on Friday, April 10.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff in the CCU at LHSC for their exceptional care, comfort, and compassion during Rhoda’s time there.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to London Health Sciences Foundation in Rhoda’s memory at https://lhsf.ca
