Alberto Delitala

Obituary

DELITALA, Alberto B. – Alberto Delitala (Albert), born on 15th of October, 1924, passed away on the 27th of February, 2024 in his 100th year, peacefully at his home in London, Ontario, with his wife, Lorisa, by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lorisa (D’Anna) and his sons Francesco (Frank) and his wife Catherine Curtis, Antonello (Tony) and his wife Vanda Blomberg. Beloved “Nonno” of his grandchildren, Albert, Richard (Norah), Emma (Jarrod) and Antony (Emily) and great-grandfather to Clara, Peter and Winnie. Dear brother of Elena (Alberto Corinaldesi) of Bologna, Italy. Predeceased by his sister, Maria Adelaide and his parents Francesco Delitala and Elvira Masi.

Albert was born in Venice, Italy, graduated from Bologna University in Agriculture and did two years of graduate work in plant pathology. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 because of the unstable political situation in Italy. Soon after he purchased and operated a dairy farm near Thorndale, Ontario. In 1955 he, along with his sister and a few school friends, acquired another property known as the New Venice Corporation near Grand Bend, Ontario. He was one of the first farmers in the area to grow corn and soybeans and to operate a large commercial farm at a time when small farms prevailed.

A private person, Albert kept a low profile; he loved nature and the arts. He was a leisure oil painter throughout his life and enjoyed poetry. He appreciated beautiful things and always kept alive the love for his native country of Italy which he visited frequently.

As per Albert’s wishes, a private, family funeral will be held with no public visitation. Donations welcomed to the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Home and Community Care and Medical Priorities for their kind care and support.
