Alexander "Sandy" Kennedy

Obituary

KENNEDY, Alexander “Sandy” (Dec 2, 1947) – On December 25, 2022, Sandy has found his peace after a challenging few years.  Loving father to Kristie, Andrew (Duska) and Kara (Jeff). Incredibly devoted and proud Gramps to Alexis, Bronte, Hudson, Anderson, Everett, Chloe, Carson and Ayla. He dearly loved his many nieces and nephews. Brother of John (Terri), Lore (Jack), Louise and Bill.  He is predeceased by his father Dr. J C Kennedy and his mother Jean Lawson Kennedy as well as his best friend and cousin Tom Lawson jr.

Sandy was happiest on the water, either in Florida or at his cottage in Grand Bend. A natural swimmer, he started early after being tossed in the pool as a toddler.  This led to many accomplishments in swimming and diving including earning a scholarship to the University of Bowling Green where he met lifelong friends. A born sailor and boater, he spent many hours on the waters of Lake Huron or in the channels of Marco Island. He loved nothing more than to take a new friend or some of his grandchildren for a boat ride. A lover of dogs, Sandy was never without a furry companion by his side.

A life-long successful entrepreneur, he founded Duststop Air Filters following a career in sales at 3M.  He was proud to steadily grow the business for over 35 years with the support of his employees in Petrolia.

Sandy had the gift of generosity. His children always remember people coming up to them and speaking with incredible fondness of how their Dad had helped them with jobs, funds and food. A spirited practical joker, Sandy ensured that the dates of his sisters didn’t linger on the front porch for too long and left soaking wet. He enjoyed giving gag gifts but was certain to have a thoughtful present nearby.
