Alison Evans

Obituary

Evans, Alison –  Peacefully with family by her side at Parkwood Hospital on Saturday, September 2, 2023, Alison Fiona Evans (nee Steele) aged 58. Beloved wife for 31 years of Matt. Loving mother of Luke and Emily and her husband Aiden. Daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Steele. Dear sister of Greg Steele. She will be missed by her furry companions Stella and Sam.

Alison was a registered nurse, beginning her career in cardiac care at St Joseph’s Hospital , then University Hospital. Subsequently she worked at the Oxford County Health Unit in Woodstock. After completing her Masters degree  in nursing she worked at Parkwood Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in geriatric care. Throughout her career, she had a tremendous impact on both patients and colleagues. Alison loved all forms of art and was a talented painter and knitter. Alison was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and while she experienced many ups and downs over the years, she always viewed herself as living with cancer rather than fighting it. She navigated those years with equanimity and a quiet determination to live to see the milestones that were important to her.  Alison and her family were grateful for the excellent care and support she received from the London Regional Cancer Program. The family would also like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital for outstanding care for Alison and our family.  Many thanks as well to her former co-workers at Parkwood, and our friends and neighbours for your support throughout Alison’s journey.

Visitation is on Friday September 8 from 6-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St James St at Richmond where a memorial service will be conducted on Saturday September 9 at 2pm.

Memorial contributions to Ovarian Cancer Canada or the London Humane Society would be appreciated.
