Anne Hayman

Obituary

HAYMAN, Anne Elizabeth (Walker) – On Saturday, July 10, 2021, Anne Elizabeth (Walker) Hayman, loving wife and mother, died at home in her 90th year after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband of over 65 years, Howard Robert (Bob) Hayman, her children and grandchildren.

Anne was born on July 30, 1931 in London, Ontario. A lifelong resident of Old North, she attended The Ryerson Public School, London Central Collegiate Institute and the University of Western Ontario, where she played tennis, basketball, and won the Gold Medal in Business and Secretarial Science in 1954.

While working at Labatt’s she caught the eye of Bob, a University of Toronto Civil Engineering graduate, and they later married in 1956 at St. John the Evangelist Church.

In addition to her brilliant mothering, she dedicated her time to a variety of volunteer positions with Merrymount, the May Court Club, and St. John’s. A former figure skater and judge herself, Anne enjoyed spectating at many skating championships at home and abroad, and travelled the world with Bob on many adventures. She loved playing the piano and was the hostess with the mostest while entertaining friends and family at home and at the cottage at Point View, Lake Huron.

Pre-deceased by her parents A.I. and Audré Walker, her dear brother John and Margaret Walker, her brother Joseph (d. 1931) and her infant son Timothy (d. 1958).

Adored and cherished by her children Stephen (Cathy) Hayman of Oakville, and their children Alex, Tyler, Nick, and Caitie; Michael Hayman of London; Susan (Brent) Hayman-Abello, and their children Robbie and Katie of London.

Admired and loved by in-laws George and Helen Hayman, Lenore (Donald, d. 2008) Hayman, Martin (Molly, d. 2021) Ware, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family is extremely grateful for the caring staff of Medical Priorities, and for the Dementia Day Program at the McCormick Home.
