Bob Jellous

Obituary

JELLOUS, Robert Allan – It is with great sadness, we the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Peacefully, at University Hospital, on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, in his 79th year.

Bob was retired from London Life after 45 years of service. He was an active member of Westmount Presbyterian Church, where he fulfilled many roles, including Clerk of Session, Sunday School, and Youth Group, and devoted many years of his life to the church. He continued to be an Elder until his death. In his retirement he developed a passion for the work of The Kiwanis Club of London, and served them for many years.

Running was his passion for many years, in which he accomplished three marathons. His love of music was rivaled only by his love of reading. If there was a soundtrack for his life, it would surely include many songs by The Eagles, Eric Clapton and The Tragically Hip. He thoroughly enjoyed all of his trips to “Smokey”, the family cabin, and had many good memories fishing and of family times together. A huge sports fan, Bob loved cheering for the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Green Bay Packers and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Even more so, he loved his role of ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol, son Mark (Kimberly), daughter Karyn Bettinson (Taylor), and his grandchildren, Grayson, Ariana, Brayden and Kyah. He will always be remembered by his siblings Sally Lysch (Les), Bill (Sheila), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Susan Vyse (Dave).

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held as soon as restrictions are lifted. Memorial contributions to The Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Westmount Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated.
