Bruce Parker

Obituary

Bruce Thomas Parker

On Monday, March 11, 2019, Bruce passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at LHSC at 84 years of age after many years of struggling with COPD. Loving son of the late Lillian (Weir) and Elmer F. Parker, and stepson of Agnes (Leis) Parker. Loving husband to Joyce (Leis) for almost 60 years and an amazing father to Janice (Ron) and Tim (Laurie). His granddaughters Andrea, Kaitlyn and Nicole adored him as he supported their sports interests cheering them on and always guiding them in their important decisions. For almost 2 years, great-granddaughter, Evelynn, has brought him such great joy.

Bruce enjoyed his athletic career, excelling in football and basketball as a student, followed by his love of coaching. He became a teacher in 1961 and retired early as principal of H.B. Beal to enjoy the cottage, golf, and time with his family. He will be remembered by everyone for his caring personality and for his wonderful sense of humour.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street, London. The funeral service will be conducted at Colborne Street United Church, 711 Colborne Street, London, by Reverend David R. Carrothers on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11a.m. A celebration of Life will follow at Sunningdale Golf & Country Club, 465 Sunningdale Road West, London.

Donations in memory of Bruce may be made to the Lung Association, or to the charity of your choice.
