FINLAYSON, Catherine – Surrounded by her family at Victoria Hospital, Catherine Jane Finlayson, peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Beloved wife of 37 years to James MacNeill. Loving mother of David (Dayna), Patrick (Jeannie), Laura (Brendon) and Anne-Marie (Brian). Proud grandmother to Charlotte and Ian. Daughter of Winnifred and the late Alastair Finlayson. Survived by sister Ann McGinn (Paul), Mary Harasym (Aleck) and brother John Finlayson (Barb). Loving aunt, cousin and friend to many.

While born in Sudbury, Ontario to a deeply rooted Inco family, she made her way to Western University where she studied Journalism. In London, Catherine established her family and found her calling in fundraising and charitable giving. She mentored many individuals and organizations within this calling, and in particular took pleasure in the advancement of women. She developed a passion for students and their futures at Fanshawe College. She led the development of many scholarships and significant fundraising campaigns. Later in life, she particularly enjoyed cottage life in Goderich, where many happy family times occurred.
