Bateson, Daniel – After a long and brave battle with a number of aggressive illnesses, Daniel Bateson ascended the stairway to Heaven in the early morning of December 22, 2022, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. He was 70 years old.
Dan was born on April 6, 1952, to Ernie and Roxanne MacDougall (deceased). He was the youngest son of 9 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his brother Grant (Barbara), and his sisters: Debi (Joel), Blanche, Nancy, and Diana. He is also remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Dan was raised by Oswald and Emma Bateson (deceased). He will forever be missed by his wife of 47+ years, Linda, and his children Eryn (Joseph) and Trillian (Matthew), as well as his cherished grandchildren Aleura, Kaeden, and Luke.
Dan was a dutiful, quiet intellectual, with a unique and witty sense of humour. He recently celebrated over 32 years working for Isherwood Associates and was proud of his team and their accomplishments. Outside of work, he could often be found playing his guitar and spending time with friends and family. Always up for an adventure, Dan loved the great outdoors, whether it be trips to Algonquin or a Caribbean beach getaway. He was also an avid reader, film buff, and independent philosopher of the universe and the world we live in. He loved to share his musical gifts with others and often volunteered with Oakwood Academy’s therapeutic music program, which has now been named the Daniel Bateson Music Program in his honour. Dan firmly believed there is a path for us all, and that we must enjoy the time we have. He led a full life and will be remembered fondly by all who had the honour of meeting him.
The family will have a celebration of life for Dan in the summer of 2023, with details to follow.
