COOK, David – David Donald Cook of London passed away at Victoria Hospital on March 10, 2023 in his 82nd year.  Dave attended London South Collegiate Institute and on graduation was hired by the London Free Press as a journalist for nine years.  During that time, he married Bonnie MacKenzie and they had one daughter, Alicia Anne.  He is predeceased by his mother Eleanor “Margaret” Johnson and father, William Fisher Cook, also by his first wife Bonnie, his second wife Elaine Clare, and his sister Sharon Cook.  He is survived by his daughter Alicia (Stuart), his mother-in-law Gerda Marsh, his stepdaughter Kathleen James (Don) and stepson Chris Clare. Step-grandfather of Courtney, Jessica, Nicole James and Nicholas and Alaura.  Dear brother-in-law of Cynthia and Marcel Rutte, Ian and Fran Marsh, Brooks and Julie Marsh, Dale Marsh, Brent, and Sherry Marsh.  Long-time friend of Donna Newcomb.  He leaves behind his special cat, Ebony.  David was an avid reader, mechanic, builder, tennis player, motorcyclist with an interest in antique cars. He was an active member of Fairmont United Church serving on the board, as a greeter, helping to organize chicken dinners and caring for the flower beds.  We would like to thank the medical teams at Victoria Hospital and Parkwood Hospital for the good care of David for the last five months.  A memorial service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond on Saturday, March 18 at 10:30 am.  Private interment later, St. Peter’s Cemetery. A celebration of his life will also be held in the spring. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
