SERVICE

The funeral service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street, London on Monday, April 29th at 11 am with visitation preceding from 10 - 11 am. Reception to follow.

Obituary

PRESTON, Dorothy Ruth, nee Ratcliffe – Dorothy Preston was born in Toronto on March 5, 1929 and died in London, Ontario on January 11, 2024.  After graduating from Toronto’s Normal School in 1949, Dorothy’s first teaching position was at Bogarttown Public School (east of Newmarket, Ontario).  It was in this community that she met her future husband, David Preston.  She was the beloved wife of David for 61 years; loving mother of dear son John (Joann) and daughter Anne (Art); zany nana to Rachel; dear sister to the late Irene Miller, Edna Wemp and Shirley Douglas.  Dorothy was a long-time worker in the many organizations of the United Church of Canada and received a life membership in the United Church Women.  She was an active member of the Canadian Federation of University Women – London Club and enjoyed many wonderful friendships there.  Dorothy and husband David were happy travellers and had some exciting experiences – some of which were more exciting than necessary. The funeral service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street, London on Monday, April 29th at 11 am with visitation preceding from 10 – 11 am. Reception to follow.  Interment Pine Orchard Friends Community Cemetery (east of Newmarket), next to her much loved husband, David. If desired, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or The Nature Conservancy of Canada.
