WINDSOR, Dorothy Anne. It is with much sadness that the family of Dorothy (née Weldon) Windsor announces her passing at home on April 30, 2020 in her 88th year. Cherished wife and life partner of Jim for 68 wonderful years.
Dorothy grew up in Arnprior, Ontario spending much of it happily at her grandparents’ farm. At 17 she reluctantly joined the Arnprior Golf Club but after meeting the new young golf pro, Jim, her interest in golf soared. Dorothy turned down a career in nursing to marry Jim in 1951. Their next move was to London where Jim became the head professional at the prestigious Sunningdale club and Dorothy won many tournaments while raising their four children, working in the family business and volunteering with the Maycourt Club.
Dorothy was devoted to her family. A pragmatic woman with a flair for design and a wry sense of humour, she was unfailingly well put together and fashionable throughout her life. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook with a particular skill for desserts, much to the delight of her family and also loved an occasional trip to Las Vegas.
Her family and friends will fondly remember her for her humble generosity and warm hospitality.
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents Hollis and Frank Weldon and brother Grant. Loving mother of James (Sheila), Tom, Dan (Kelly) and Anne, and devoted grandmother of Jessica, Claire, Kyle, Rachel and Brennan, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dorothy to The Friends of the London Public Library.
