Benjamin, Carlton (Carl) – Peacefully at University Hospital in London, Ontario on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Dr. Carlton Vernon Benjamin of London and formerly of Sault Ste. Marie age 86. Beloved husband for 63 years of the late Yvonne Benjamin. Loving father of Jackie, Audrey, Roger, June and Owen. Dear grandfather of Taylor, Daniel and Riley. Carlton was a scholar, teacher and professor. He was educated at Dalhousie University where he received his BA and MA. At the University of Western Ontario, he obtained his doctorate (Ph.D) in French. He later went on to receive another MA in Education at the University of Toronto. For years, he taught at Bawating high school in Sault Ste. Marie and was the Head of the French Department. He also taught at Algoma College and the prestigious University of Western Ontario (UWO). Carlton was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. Wise, honest and honorable. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. Truly, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
