AHMAD, Dr. Dildar – Dildar Ahmad born Kampala, Uganda on December 15, 1932, died London, Ontario April 11, 2018. Dearly loved husband of Philomena (Phil). Beloved father of Feroza and Joseph. Also missed by his sorrowing family, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. His caring, commitment, and lifetime of devotion to his profession and family will be missed beyond description. His kind and gentle nature touched everyone who knew him personally and professionally. Dr. Dildar Ahmad was educated in England and Ireland. He received his FRCP (Ireland) in 1970 and FRCPC in 1971 in the specialty of internal medicine (respiratory medicine). Dr. Ahmad became affiliated with the University of Western Ontario upon his arrival in Canada, and served in many capacities. He made many outstanding contributions over the years, as a researcher, clinician and administrator at the faculty of medicine at the university. He was a past president of the Ontario Thoracic Society, a former chair of the OMA Section on Respiratory Diseases, and the medical director of the heart-lung transplant program at the university campus of the London Health Sciences Centre. He was a role model for generations of students and residents at UWO, and held in the highest regard by his colleagues. Dr. Ahmad was also visiting professor for the University of West Indies, St. George’s University in Grenada, and the school of medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. A private funeral at the London Muslim Mosque was held on April 12, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Prayers were officiated by Imam Abd Alfatah Twakkal. Visitation on Tuesday, April 17 from 6-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Hospice or London Humane Society would be appreciated.
