Dr. Don King

Obituary

KING, Dr. Don, BSc., MSc., D.D.S and Pedodontics Specialty – After having his favourite Snickers bar and being settled in for the night, Don peacefully left us at University Hospital on Thursday, June 8 2023.

Dr. Don Allan King of London, age 91, beloved husband for 67 years of Jill and loving father of Janet (Andrew), Deedee (Gary), Peter (Sandra) and Allyson (Peter). Grandfather of Lauren, Ryan, Wilson, Jackson, Sam, Spencer, Gracie, Cameron and Tate plus his four legged grandkids Chester, Manny, Maizie and Max.

Raised as a United Church Minister’s son, Don came from humble small town Manitoba beginnings. He attended the University of Alberta, completing his Bachelor’s of Science and Doctor of Dentistry Degree. At U of A, he ran the University Naval Training Division, rising to Lieutenant standing. He then attended the Eastman Dental Centre and the University of Rochester, New York, specializing in Pedodontics as well as completing his Masters in Dental Research.

The Kings moved to London, Ontario in 1969, where Don established a Pedodontic practice. He later opened a second practice in Bayfield, Ontario and ultimately enjoyed a successful career across the two locations for over 40 years. Over his career, he quietly donated his services to those less fortunate, in keeping with his nature.

Don loved curling and golfing with friends at the London Hunt Club and sailing in Bayfield, but his greatest joy came from his many ski trips with Jill, family and friends.

A man of integrity and respected by his peers and colleagues, Don was easy going with a great sense of humour. He will be missed by all.

Private family arrangements. Memorial contributions to the Humane Society would be appreciated.
