Obituary

KING, Dr. H. James – Peacefully at University Hospital on Monday, May 1, 2017, age 76. Best friend and partner for 41 years of Jeanne Portelance. Son of the late Howard and Jean (Coppin) King and brother of the late John King. Dear brother-in-law of Gwyneth King and loving uncle of David and Steve (Sandra). Proud great-uncle of Colwyn and Deven, Elyse and Dylan. Brother-in-law of Marcel Portelance (JoAnne), Hector Portelance (Rosanne), and the late Rachel (Normand Poulin). Beloved uncle to Roxane (Graeme) and children Cole and Adam, Sonya (Doug) and children Grant and Claire, Matthieu, Brent (Michelle) and children Garet and Grace, Megan (Tyler) and daughter Skylar, Rene, Chantal (Andre). Also fondly remembered by his cousins Pat (George), Bonnie (Roy), Susan (Charlie), Tom (Anne) and predeceased by cousin Sandy. Graduate of U.W.O. Medicine, 1967, and then Obstetrics and Gynecology 1973. He was a member of the Department of OBS/GYN at U.W.O. for 37 years. Under the banner of this department, Jim originated the Urodynamics Unit. He was also an early member of the Colposcopy Unit. He enjoyed his role as resident program director, membership with AMOSO and CTA. Jim had many other interests including fishing, houseboating, curling, horse racing, football and was an avid sports fan of baseball (Blue Jays), professional and college football (Michigan Wolverines). Jim and Jeanne were members of the BBB Club, thereby visiting many cities in North America for baseball weekends. They loved traveling together, including multiple train trips across Canada, visits to Ireland, Scotland, Europe and even Australia. The last few years he loved being a snowbird in Florida.
