HODDER, Robert William – Suddenly at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, March 26, 2017, Robert William Hodder of London in his 85th year. Lovingly remembered by wife Genet, sons Ian of New York and Kevin and wife Meredith of Whistler, and granddaughters Ella and Marion. Predeceased by brother John and wife Evelyn, and dear uncle of Donna Quail and Joanne Hodder.
Bob graduated from Queens University and received his PhD from University of California, Berkeley. A field geologist in both the private and academic worlds, he was appointed professor at UWO in 1970 and was department chair from 1982-1990. He served as professor emeritus since 1993 and inspired a generation of students who are now leaders in the field.
Bob was an outdoor enthusiast and global traveler who remained active and curious until his final days. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial gathering will be held on July 15th on Whistler Mountain, British Columbia. Contributions to the Trans Canada Trail (thegreattrail.ca) would be an appropriate way to remember him.
