Enid Merritt

Obituary

MERRITT, Enid – Quietly at home on Sunday, January 8, 2023, Enid Louise Merritt, nee Rumbell of London.  Beloved wife for 47 years of Paul.  Loving mother of Robert Traut (Nancy), Susan Lyon (Gary), Tim Traut (Melissa) and Jon Traut (Susan).  Proud Nana of Pamela, Emily, Meaghan, Geoff, Ashley, Justin, Brandon and Hailey and great-grandmother of Nash, Cade, Margo, Clark and Rowan. Dear Sister of Naureen Devereaux and the late Ross Rumbell and Shirley Brandis.  Lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Enid was heavily involved with Paul in the music program at First-St. Andrew’s United Church.  She was a long-time choir member and a dedicated helper with the children’s choir.  She was especially proud of her work on the Music at First-Andrew’s Concert Series.  She also planned many successful Burns Suppers at the church.  A gifted artist, she was talented with watercolours and her work adorned the Concert Series posters. A consummate hostess and noted cook, she shared many special meals with family and friends. Enid and Paul enjoyed their travel adventures together, including European Pipe Organ tours and visits with family across the globe.  They loved birding outings and were proud supporters of the Stratford and Shaw Festivals.  Enid was secretary at Colborne Street United Church for a brief time, and subsequently had a fulfilling career in the Public Library system.  She was also a certified KinderMusik teacher.
