Geraldine Stol

Obituary

STOL, Geraldine – Peacefully, after a brief illness on Thursday, June 8, 2023.  Bernice Geraldine Stol (nee Tighe) of London and formerly of Toronto in her 93rd year. Beloved wife for 65 years of the late Jack (Jacobus) Stol (2013).  Loving mother of Michael (Catherine) and the late Mark (2017).  Dear grandma of Jessica and David.

Geraldine was a dedicated, compassionate teacher (38 years).  She received her Master’s Degree in Education while teaching full time. She was a faithful Christian and long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church on Spadina Ave. in Toronto.  She sang in the church choir from the age of 14, continuing until the day she died.  She was a voracious reader, and enjoyed theatre, art, and opera.

She gave freely of her time and resources.  Geraldine and Jack were dedicated volunteers with the Schizophrenic Society of Ontario and Out of the Cold in Toronto.  After moving to London, Ontario, Geraldine volunteered at Westmount’s VBS, Food Pantry and Messy Church.  In all these commitments, Geraldine was a gifted visitor with people at risk.

She loved her family, especially time spent with her grandchildren.

A celebration of life and the Resurrection will be conducted at Westmount Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 24 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Tim Raeburn-Gibson.  Reception to follow at the church.  Memorial contributions to Westmount Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
