Obituary

In his 93rd year, Henry Jacob of London, ON was called to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 7th, 2024 at the Dearness Home with his family by his side. Henry was strong in his Christian faith and was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He devoted his time and love to his family, his church and helping others. He was a long-time member and contributor to his church council, as well as the Lutheran Laymen’s League of Canada.

Henry was born in Hungary and came to Canada with his mother and sister after the war, during which, he lost his father.  He worked as a salesman at J.M. Schneiders for many years and was awarded Salesman of the Year in 1977. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in many activities, including sports, and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Loving and devoted husband of 64 years to Eva Jacob (nee Wenhardt), loving father of Mike, Jim (Jane), John (Jennie) and Mark (Elizabeth) Jacob. Cherished grandfather to Cody & Brandon, Noah & Nicolas, Julia & Erin, Anna, Kaitlyn, Christopher & Ellen. Dear brother-in-law of Margaret Wenhardt. Dear uncle to Karl (Liz) and Rob (Renata), Andy (Marlene) and Linda. Predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Elisabeth Jakob (nee Gerth), his sister Elisabeth Krech (nee Jakob) and her husband Karl, his parents-in-laws Paul and Mary Wenhardt (nee Koch), and his brother-in-law Paul Wenhardt (Margaret).

Henry will be sadly missed by all family members as well as friends and neighbours.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Dearness Home for their unwavering care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Pastor Manna for his spiritual support.

Henry’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 10th from 2-5 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home 220 St. James St., London, ON. Funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 552 Fanshawe Park Rd. E. in London, ON on Monday, March 11th, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment at Siloam Cemetery, 1240 Fanshawe Park Rd. E., London, ON. Reception at Good Shepherd.
