J. Victor Morris

Obituary

Morris, James Victor, M.Sc.,P.Eng., FEC

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Victor Morris, of London Ontario on April 17, 2023 at the age of 92.

Victor will be lovingly remembered by his son Thomas (Sue), and his daughters Ann Rogers (Leland), and Moira (Jay).  Dear Grandfather of Robert (Kim), Tyrrell, Jenn (Eric), Angus (Amber), Christine (Will), Jasper (Arthur), Michael, Daniel (Keira), Jacob, Hannah and Kyle.  Great grandfather of Sophie, Lily, Liam, Lincoln, Lachlan, Eyla, Kinsley and Evelyn.  Dear Brother of May Blaikie.  He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by Elizabeth, his loving wife of 64 years.

Victor’s incredible passion for volunteer work and the environment was evidenced in his contributions around the globe in his capacity as a civil engineer.  His unwavering professionalism, leadership and tremendous volunteer work was recognized with the PEO Order of Honor in 2011.  He viewed the profession as “a leading and fundamentally essential community service to improve peoples’ lives.”  An active participant in the local engineering community, he was on the executive of the London PEO, chaired the Technical Committee of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, and was a member of the Education Outreach Committee. Victor also chaired the London Inner City Faith Team. As chair, he supervised the fundraising for and design and construction of an affordable housing apartment complex for low-income single people with disabilities.

Victor was happiest when he was with family.  He had boundless energy and filled every moment with love, adventure and play.  From camping trips, hikes, golf, squash, road hockey, swimming, dancing or quietly reading together, he was an incredibly loving and dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.  He gave his family his all.  He will be desperately missed.

A memorial service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London on Saturday, April 29 at 11 am, with visitation preceding from 10-11 am. Reception to follow. Private interment, St. Johns Cemetery, Arva. Memorial Contributions to McCormick Care Foundation appreciated.
