It is with great sadness that the family of (Sandra) Jean Small announces her passing after a long struggle with illness, on Tuesday, June 16, at the age of 80 years. May she rest in peace. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Bruce Small and her children as a beloved mother, Laura, Jennifer, Ian and David. As a grandmother she will be fondly remembered by Lola, Alex, Rachael, Ben and Nelson. Her eldest grandchild Niall, also had a special place in his heart for his grandmother. Jean was a great grandmother to Noah and a loving mother-in-law to Rick, Doug and Michelle.
Jean dedicated her life in service of faith, humanity and dignity. She was a leader, a friend and organizer in the United Church of Canada throughout her life. As the Minister’s wife, she was a public figure, always gracing a smile, a warm heart, patience and commitment to her family and faith. During her life she served as a hospital chaplain, chair and executive of many committees and a teacher. Through Jean’s actions, several refugees found a new life in Canada.
A Private Funeral Service in memory of Jean will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Harris Funeral Home in London, with Rev. David Exley officiating. Jean’s family regret the limitations on attendance due to the current situation. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jean to the organization they so choose.
