Jennifer Holland

Obituary

HOLLAND, Jennifer – It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jennifer Fiona Holland at University Hospital on Saturday, July 3rd 2021, at the much too early age of 50.

Beloved daughter of Winifred Holland and the late Denys Holland (1984). Loving mother to daughters Camdyn (Cam) and Cait Holmes. Also missed by her common-law partner Blair Carpenter and her husband Paul Holmes; her step-father of many years Greg Brandt; her brother Nick (Tracy), nephews Andrew and Adam; her step-brother Mike and his son Jake; and by her half brothers Kevin, Adrian (Angela) and her half sister Kairen Holland-Rocker (Graham).

Jen was born in London, England and spent a year in Barbados before the family emigrated to Canada in 1974 aboard the S.S. France. They moved into 200 Sherwood Ave in 1975 and have many childhood memories of that home when friendships were forged with Tanya, Helen, Paula, and David and Heather Luckman.

Jen went to Montessori, then Ryerson and London Central H.S. Jen spent a year at McMaster before moving to Western and completing her BA (with Honours) in Anthropology in 1994. She was on the Dean’s Honour List in 1992/93. She enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Western and completed her LL.B in 1998 and then proceeded to article at Faskens in Toronto and Dyer Brown in London. She was called to the Bar in 2000.

Jen enrolled in the MLIS program at Western and graduated in 2001. Shortly before graduation she and Paul Holmes married and had daughters Cam in 2003 and Cait in 2005. She loved Cam and Cait very much, and was very proud of all their accomplishments and was equally loved by them.

When still in Toronto and after obtaining her MLIS Jen joined the firm of WeirFoulds where she was the Legal Research and Reference Librarian. After they moved to London Jen was appointed as a Research Librarian in the Faculty of Law at Western, a position she held from 2007-2013. In 2014/2017 she was involved in Immigration law issues with the firm of Price Waterhouse.

Jen was a remarkable woman. Extremely bright, with a ready smile and a wicked sense of humour, she quickly endeared herself to so many people. The Facebook account which contains so many messages of support and sympathy, is testimony to the impact she had on the lives of so many friends. The family is very grateful for all the support we have received.

Interment Woodland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life (by invite only) with Zoom broadcast will be conducted on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 2 pm, from Harris Funeral Home, London, Ontario. For Zoom access, please email in**@***************me.ca to request an invitation.
