BOYD, Dr. John – Peacefully at University Hospital on Thursday, December 19, 2019, Dr. John Boyd of London in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Anne Boyd, nee Nickle (1995). Loving father of Rob (Tina) of London and Carol (Dave DeBruyn) of Salford. Dear grandfather of Alexandra and Garrett Boyd, Presley, Tyler, Matthew and Samantha DeBruyn, and Robyn Baker. Brother of the late George Boyd and brother-in-law of Linda Boyd.
John graduated from University of Toronto, BA 1956, and Northwestern University, MA Audiology 1957 and PhD 1965. His career in education of the deaf spanned 39 years, culminating as Superintendent at The Robarts School for the Deaf in London, 1972-1987. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, curling, hunting, fishing, travel and playing his violin.
A memorial visitation will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, next Saturday, December 28 from 2-4 pm, with remembrances at 3 pm. Private family interment Hazzards Cemetery, Madoc at a later date.
