Obituary

MARTIN, John – Peacefully with family by his side at University Hospital on Saturday, May 25, 2019, John Edward Martin of London, 1930 – 2019.

Beloved husband for 65 years of Norene Marie Martin, nee McFalls. Loving father of David E. Martin (Ruth) of Elgin, Debra E. Balasevicius (Anthony) of Bath, and Drew M. Martin (Heather) of London. Dear grandfather of Michael (Angela), Jennifer, Devin, Alexandra, Alexa and Devon and great-grandfather of Logan and Spencer. Brother-in-law of Stewart Lethbridge. Predeceased by his parents, George Stanley Martin and Eva Louise Chapman and sisters Mary Elliott and Margaret (Peg) Lethbridge. John will be fondly remembered by many dear friends and relatives.

John started in London with Richard-Wilcox Industrial Door Company and was moved to Winnipeg, then to Toronto. He ended his career in London with Reitzel Rentals and Construction Equipment where he worked for 20 years. John was an avid baseball enthusiast, coaching junior bantam, umpiring, and serving as a league president in Toronto. He loved his workshop and his train room, and enjoyed jigsaws and playing on the computer. He was also a long-time Kiwanian.

Special thanks to all of the staff on the 9th floor Orthopaedic Ward, University Hospital.

Visitation on Thursday from 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 1246 Oxford St. W. on Friday, May 31 at 11 am. Cremation followed by private interment at a later date at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.

Memorial contributions to Children’s Health Foundation or Prostate Cancer Canada would be appreciated.
