Giles, Kathleen (Kay) – Passed suddenly at Elgin Manor on Sunday, August 6, 2023, Kathleen Marie Giles nee Baird of London and formerly of Windsor, age 97.  Beloved wife for 71 years of the late Robert Douglas Giles.  Loving mother of Kathy (Hugh) Weekes of North Vancouver, Bob (Terry) Giles of Peterborough and Nancy (Paul) Giles-McIntosh of London.  Dear grandma of Ian, Emily, Carolyn, James, Christina, Kelly, Heather, Maddison and Ariana and great-grandma of Chloe, Elliott, Cohen, Carson, Carter, Dylan, Carson and Emily.  Predeceased by siblings Margaret (James) McArthur, Robert (Shirley) Baird and Patricia (Leo) Boutet.

Kay was heavily involved in high school athletics. She had a passion for basketball and track. She often reminisced about getting training tips from Olympic champion Jessie Owens.

Kay did her nursing training at St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Program in London and graduated in 1951.  She returned to Windsor and spent many years working for family physicians in Windsor doctors’ offices.  Late in her work life she decided to return to school to take a nursing refresher course to allow her to finish her career nursing in long term care in Windsor.

Kay was also an active member of the Windsor Figure Skating club and served in various roles with the club for many years.

In her retirement years, she spent many summers enjoying the cottage in the Kawarthas as well as golfing in a ladies league.  Winter months she devoted to curling.

Kay was a Sunday school teacher at Paulin Memorial Presbyterian Church and once she moved to London, she became involved with the Women’s Missionary Society at New St. James Presbyterian Church.
