HILLIER, Kay – Reta Catherine (Kay) Hillier 85, died in London Ontario, on Saturday December 30th, after a short illness. Born May 10, 1938 to Reta and Basil Beattie in London. Married John (Jack) Morley Hillier (died December 4, 2009) on February 22, 1958. Deeply missed by her 3 children and their families; Karen and husband Chris Liddiard, Jeff and wife Karina Hillier, Tom and wife Gina Hillier. Loving Grandmother to Sarah McAlister (Stuart), Rebecca Liddiard (Trevor Kluke) Caroline, Andrew, Daniel & Georgia Hillier. GGKay to great-granddaughter Isla McAlister.
Kay was a devoted wife and mother, and rose to the challenge of moving her growing family around Canada and the United States, supporting Jack in his career with 15 corporate moves. She was an expert at packing, moving, setting up a new home, making new friends and settling the children into new schools. She was an avid sewer, and made clothes for the whole family, sometimes matching! Active in her community, she was a volunteer at First-St Andrew’s United, May Court Club of London, and the Kiwanis Club of Forest City-London. Kay loved tennis in her youth, later favouring golf and becoming an active member of Westhaven Golf Club after returning to London when Jack retired. She and Jack travelled extensively with the Telephone Pioneers prior to retirement, and afterwards, around the world, often cruising, often with friends and family. Kay was loving, caring and funny, and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Special thanks to the staff on the 4th Floor Memory Care at Fox Hollow, the VON nurses and PSWs, and the wonderful team at Parkwood Palliative Care.
