Ki-Woon Choi was born in Incheon, South Korea on Oct 14th, 1938.
He was the second son of Choi Song- Cheon and Hwang In-Yeon. He had one older brother (Ki-Chul), four younger brothers, (Il-Eung, Shin-Eung, Ki-Ho, Ki-Soo) and a younger sister (Ok-Nyeon).
Ki-Woon loved his middle school and high school days! He was the captain of his high school baseball team and loved baseball and loved to hang out with his friends and loved to read.
He joined the Korean Navy for his military services after high school and served for 3 years.
He married Lark-Choon Beck on July 4th, 1962, in Incheon, South Korea and had four children; three sons (Dok-Young 1963 to 1966, In-Chul-Simon 1967 to 2019, Hyun-Chul-Robert and one daughter (Hae-Young-Kelly married to Guillermo Alexander Medinilla).
Ki-Woon and Lark-Choon immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada in June of 1976. Ki- Woon and Lark-Choon were business owners of a Korean grocery store until their retirement.
He has three grandchildren, Justin Medinilla, Adrianna Medinilla, who are the children of his daughter, Hae-Young – Kelly Medinilla and Sundra Choi, daughter of his second son, In-Chul-Simon Choi.
Ki- Woon loved to play golf. He looked forward to golfing season and enjoyed the game with his good friends. Ki-Woon was always cheerful, loved to sing, and loved all his family and friends.
Ki-Woon’s passing was very unexpected and surprising to all of us as he was very healthy and fit. However, his heart failed him on the evening of Saturday, July 30, 2022. He passed peacefully and has now joined his wife, Lark-Choon, and his sons, Dok-Young, and In-Chul-Simon.
His legacy will live on as being kind, gentle, funny, witty, cool, and a loving father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. We will always remember him in our daily days going forward.
Ki- Woon’s family would like to thank his golf and church friends for assisting with organizing the Memorial Service to give him a wonderful and thoughtful send-off to the next world.
A celebration of Ki-Woon’s life will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London, Ontario on Friday August 12,2022 at 11:00 am.
