Mary Sheppard

Obituary

SHEPPARD, Mary – Peacefully at University Hospital on Saturday, September 10, 2022, Mary Sheppard, née Watkins in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late William ‘Bill’ Langdon Sheppard (2008).  Loving mother of Mark (Sheri) and Jennifer (Andy).  Gramma Mary to Haley, Will and Luke. Daughter of Dai and Gwen Watkins; sister of Joan Davies and the late Pat Peirce; cousin of Anne (Robert), Elaine (Roy), Warren (Colleen), Donalda, and of Tina and Carol, sadly missed; aunt to Suzie, Andrew, Ian, and David.

Mary will be remembered for her lifelong devotion to helping and giving to those around her. Born in Tredegar, Wales, she came to Canada aged 20 as a young teacher with dreams to travel the world.  She found a second family with her aunt Vera, uncle Dunc and cousins in Ontario, met and married her beloved Bill, and they started their own family. While Canada became her home, Mary always remained connected to her roots in Wales.  She was an integral part of the Waldorf school community in London where she found great purpose and reward in her work with children.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at The Waldorf School (7 Beaufort St, London, ON) – Sunday October 16 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Waldorf School or London Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated.
