Muriel Hill

Obituary

HILL, Muriel – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Hill, suddenly but peacefully at home on August 30th in her 90th year. Predeceased by her best friend and beloved husband, Stan Hill (Nov 6, 2017). Survived by her daughter Lesley (Dave) Mounteer and her son Alastair (Nicole) Hill. Cherished Grandma to Megan Mounteer and Jenna and Griffin Hill.

Muriel was a life long teacher. She began her teaching career in Glasgow, Scotland then worked as a lecturer at Sir George Williams University in Montreal after emigrating to Canada. She had a long and successful career in London with the Public School Board from 1966 to 1989 which spanned teaching English in high schools, being a Guidance Counselor and finally was the first female Vice Principal in the high school system. She worked at many London schools including Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Westminster, Central, Saunders, Clarke Road and Sir Frederick Banting. After retiring she continued to serve as a volunteer on provincial government committees, Partners in Research and the Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO). Her love of reading and the English language continued and she belonged to several book clubs and was a voracious reader.

A Remembrance Reception will be held on Sunday September 22nd from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Cremation has taken place.
