Noreen McTaggart

Obituary

McTAGGART, Noreen – With sadness the family announces the death of Noreen at Amica, London, on Thursday 16 November 2023, in her 95th year. Noreen was the beloved wife of Howard for 69 years, and cherished mother of Scott (Mary) of London, Kevin (Linda) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Craig, who passed away in 1960. She was a loving grandmother of Maggie (Martin), of Waterloo, Doug, of Vancouver, and Kelly (Daniel) of Calgary, Mark and Jane of Dartmouth; and an adoring great-grandmother to Caroline and Rosamund of Waterloo and Peter of Calgary.

Noreen was predeceased by her parents, James and May Ledingham, and brother, Douglas Ledingham of South Porcupine (2018).  Her early years were spent at Connaught, Ontario, South Porcupine Secondary School, and North Bay Normal School, Class of 1948. After teaching for   four years in Timmins, she joined the staff of High Park School in Sarnia, where she met Howard. They were married in 1954 and moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1960. Relocation to London took place in 1964 and Noreen spent the rest of her happy, productive, and affiliative life there. She cherished her friends.

It is said that it is more important to add life to years than years to life: Noreen did both. She was most often described as a lovely person. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Later, a family memorial will be held for interment of ashes at Alvinston Cemetery.

The family is grateful to all service and medical staff for their dedicated care. Donations in memory of Noreen may be made to a charity of your choice. The family expresses special thanks for all the kindnesses shown during the recent difficult period. Howard acknowledges the amazing teamwork of his immediate and extended family.
