Obituary

SILVERTHORNE, PATRICIA HERRICK – Pat passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Toronto, Ontario on October 16, 2023, age 90. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dennis Jr. and Carolina of Toronto; and her grandchildren Oliver and Theodore. She was pre-deceased by her husband Dennis Alfred Silverthorne; her parents Wendell Herrick and Elizabeth Fackler Herrick Cozier; and her brother John F. Herrick.

She was raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio and graduated from Hathaway Brown School in 1951. She developed a lifelong passion for figure skating at the Cleveland Skating Club, and was Senior Ladies Champion for 5 years. She earned the USFSA Gold Medal and competed in the 1954 United States Figure Skating Championships. Later she became a figure skating judge and rose to the national level. In 1956, she earned a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. She was a pioneer in computer programming at AT&T for 10 years as a data systems design supervisor. She married Dennis in 1970, and they moved to London, Ontario and together they operated Silverthorne Skating School for figure and power skating.
