Obituary

Ramsay Travers

May 2, 1947- April 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ramsay on April 8th, 2025 at University Hospital.  Beloved husband and best friend of Sylvia for 52 years, a much loved and devoted father to Lindsay (John) and Reagen (Tatiana). He was adored by his grandchildren Ava, Logan and Sierra. He was a loving brother to Patty (Scott dec) and Paula (Leigh). Travel companions and cherished by in laws, Ann (George), Ken (Sue) and Kathie Lancaster.

Predeceased by his parents Betty and Mark. He attended Ryerson PS, Central Collegiate and graduated from Western University.

He was a Boy Scout proudly achieving his Queen Scout Award. Sailing and teaching sailing on Lake Fanshawe were an important part of his teenage years. Sailing in the Mackinac Race from Chicago Yacht Club to the Mackinac several times with his family and a best friend.

He retired as Vice President of North American sales at Tender Tootsie Shoe Company. He was best known for his kindness, devotion to his family and his sense of humor.

Before his recent heart issues he was an avid curler, truly loving the sport and the teams he was on. A consistent member of the Young at Heart Golf group, always helping with planning.  Oakridge Presbyterian Church was key in Ramsay’s beliefs and he valued his many friendships there.

The family is very grateful to the Cardiac Care Team at the University Hospital. His long time cardiologist Dr. Stuart Smith, Dr. Davey and Dr. Garg, NP Heather Hern, Dr. McIntyre and NP Christine Whalen, and Rev. Dr. Tim Archibald.
