PERRY, Robert – Peacefully died at home with the love of his life by his side on Friday, November 15, 2019, Robert John Perry of London and formerly of South Porcupine in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Norma Perry, nee Johnson, for 64 years. His faith and love with Norma kept him strong and happy all their married years. Loving father of Janice and her husband Kip Nickel, James and his wife Bambi, Deborah and her husband Ian Wallace. Dear Papa to Matthew (Emma), Kristin (Attila), Sophie, Hannah, Olivia, Cameron, and Madeline (Robby), and great- grandfather of Akos, Lilla, Naomi, and Phoebe. Brother of Dorothy Honsberger and the late William. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

As a devoted father, he passed on his varsity tennis and curling skills, along with his love for nature through fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, swimming and cross country skiing. He was a master at the grill and telling jokes; we will miss hearing about “Sven and Ollie”. Prior to social media, he faithfully wrote weekly letters to his mother and his children while they attended University. In retirement he and Norma wintered in Siesta Key, Florida and Bob enjoyed their membership to the London Club. Bob received a degree in Mining Engineering from Michigan Technological University, in 1958. He became a respected leader in the mining industry while rising up from Shift Boss to the General Manager at Dome Gold Mine. He was recognized for having an outstanding mine safety record and for his expertise in mine rescue.

During his active life in Timmins he served as an Elder in the United Church; Chairman of the Board of Education and the Chamber of Commerce; a Member of the Masonic Lodge, the Timmins Museum and president of the South Porcupine Lions Club. His sparkly eyes, quick wit, and kind, serving heart will be missed. A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions to the Parkinson Society or London Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated.
