Obituary

Robin Harris

February 27, 1962 – July 15, 2023

Our sweet Robin has died. We will miss his smiles and gentle good mornings. We will miss his hellos and goodbyes and saying our names with such love. We will miss hearing him say “Good stuff, eh” while he enjoys his favourite meals. We will miss reading him Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck as he recites them from memory and we will miss his delight in a walk or a car ride.

Robin’s mother, Georgina, and father, Jim (Harris), surrounded him with love and gave him a wonderful life with a cozy home, music, and books. Robin did a spot-on imitation of his brother Kevin’s gentle voice and used it whenever he spoke of him. He enjoyed calling out, “Hi Judy!” waiting for her pleased reaction. His sister, Wendy, was his song and story companion, often singing Robin in the Rain, and of course Farmer along with him. Robin loved to ask Chris (Bentley) what the temperature was and then anticipate the deliciously long-vowelled answer. Robin loved singing Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ra with his grandfather, Richard Harris, and being cuddled by his grandmother, Isabel Roxburgh. He lit up when his Aunty Jackie (Kirkman) sang and played guitar. Family celebrations always included company, singing and walks and Robin appreciated his nieces, Julia, Elizabeth and Jocie and nephew, Jeremy, and their partners, especially their strong legs as they wheeled him back up the hill towards home. And, of course, their hugs and songs. Cousins Randy, Chris and Melodie-Anne (MacDonald) were kind and warm to him.

Robin was also loved by many who came within his world to help care for him. Thank you especially to Laurie, Kellie and Nasrin for all that you have done over many years. Thank you to Barbara, Sojy and Teresa for your special care. Thank you as well to the staff at Eden, a Participation House who took careful and loving care of him over the last year.
